A SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is a unique alphanumeric code that identifies each distinct product and variant in your inventory. Unlike UPCs or barcodes which are standardized, SKUs are created by the seller and can be structured to encode meaningful information like category, color, size, and style. This makes them invaluable for inventory tracking, sales analysis, and warehouse management.
For example, the SKU FN-JWL-RNG-GLD-OS-001 tells you at a glance: it is from shop FN, in the Jewelry category, a Ring product, Gold color, One Size, item number 001.
Choose a preset to start with a common shop configuration, or build your own format segment by segment. Select your preferred separator, fill in your shop prefix, category, product name, color, size, and optional variant. The live preview shows your SKU in real time. Use Single mode to create one SKU at a time, or switch to Batch mode to generate all color/size combinations automatically.
All generated SKUs are saved in the list below where you can copy them individually, copy all at once, or download as a CSV file ready for import into spreadsheets or inventory systems.
If you sell on Etsy, Amazon, or eBay, using consistent SKUs across all channels simplifies inventory management significantly. Pair your SKUs with our Packaging Calculator to standardize your shipping workflow, and use our fee calculators to ensure every SKU is priced profitably.
